It is a white crystalline solid in its anhydrous form and in its solution form it appears as a colorless liquid. Both the forms are non-toxic and non-combustible. It is odorless and has a mildly astringent taste. Aluminum sulphate, normally recognized as alum is solid crystalline powder or strong that is dissolvable in water. Also known as Non-Ferric Alum, this chemical has non-toxic and water solubility properties that make it an important chemical for water treatment processes. It is soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol.
